Whilst it is certainly true that the West has its fair share of fake news and incomplete reporting, when the entity that you're reporting ABOUT spouts NOTHING BUT lies (basically), then you'd be well advised not to take moral lessons from that entity. Chinese people here in China are mostly morons who listen uncritically to government propaganda, in my humble opinion, based on experience. I don't say they are morons because of racism - I say they are mostly morons because that's my considered opinion. They basically ALL have the same opinion about any issue on which the government has an opinion. All have the same opinion on Taiwan; all have the same opinion on Donald Trump; all have the same opinion on the Russia versus Ukraine thing; etc etc. One month, they are told to boycott Japan. So that month, anyone with a Japanese car gets their car damaged. The next month, it's something else.Posted by gini (here)
Onawah thank you for posting about chinese matters , but imho its difficult to take these ´entertaining style´ China shows seriously.even if its news is (partially?) true ,because me personnally cant watch the sensationalistic reporting style like the one above. And many of these shows are -for me-way too long to absorb . Here in Thailand i meet more and more chinese people and they make me aware that most of the news we receive in the west is often fake or incomplete .so i´m careful who to listen to ,and whom to ´believe´.![]()
A month or two ago, people would make conversations with me, and invariably (for about a week or so), start referring to some thing that the British and French did in Shanghai a hundred and fifty years ago. Every single stranger with whom I spoke to for more than a couple of sentences (plus a fair proportion of people I already knew) did that for a week. Then it suddenly stopped. Never heard about it again since. This reminded me of the "five-minute hate" practised in George Orwell's 1984. It's really quite remarkable. Basically, a country of a billion people all has the same opinion about everything. They're allowed differing opinions on flavours of noodles. But on anything that counts, all the same opinion. Like an ant's nest or beehive. If mentioning that opens me to accusations of "racism", never mind. It's still what I have observed....
It's also clear to me that, whenever anybody criticises China, an army of Chinese people under the control of the CCP kicks into action putting negative comments under that person's post (on Youtube, etc). It's quite easy to recognise when someone is a shill for the CCP (and they are not always Chinese). If you lived here in China, and kept your eyes and ears open, you would see what I mean pretty quickly. Having said that, I know Westerners who've lived in China for years, who seem to be walking around with their eyes shut....Many people don't seem to look with their eyes, preferring instead to look with their ears.
