Perhaps an overlooked but significant aspect of war with Iran ... Armageddon and the return of Jesus. It is a very bizarre sect of Christianity that beieves this (I think I could make a case of all religions having a group of extremists). Interestingly, Muslims also believe that Jesus (who they regard as a prophet) promised to return (just part of the story), but like most Christians, they are not trying to accelerate that but also believe they should be ready, so there are various obligations and directions and forms of advice, from not engaging in usury to praying 5 times a day to giving to the poor, etc. However, Christians believe all you have to do is accept Jesus as your saviour and you will go to paradise at the end of times. So you can sin, repent and get instant forgiveness. Muslims have to make more effort and try to earn it, and unfortunately martyrdom did 'slip in as a viable ticket to paradise'. However, the vast majority of Muslims are not suicide bombers. Most Christians do not believe that their ticket to paradise is to murder lots of children.

I kind of hope that Jesus would return now and clear up all this confusion/contradiction!

ISLAMABAD / ISTANBUL

At least 87 sailors are confirmed dead after an Iranian warship was attacked by a US torpedo near the South Asian Island nation of Sri Lanka, according to media reports.

Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Vijhita Hearth said that 87 bodies of sailors were recovered and search and recovery operations are continuing in the waters off the southern city of Galle, local English newspaper Daily Mirror reported.​​​​​​​

While another 32 sailors of the IRIS Dena vessel were wounded and are being treated at the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital in Galle, the Iranian warship was carrying 180 crew members.

A search and recovery operation is continuing in the waters off the southern city of Galle, Hearth added.

US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth confirmed American forces attacked the Iranian warship, which had participated in a naval drill off the Indian coast last month.

“In the Indian Ocean, an American submarine sank an Iranian warship that thought it was safe in international waters,” Hegseth told reporters at the Pentagon.

"Instead, it was sunk by a torpedo," he said. “The first sinking of an enemy ship by a torpedo since World War II.”

Sri Lankan Navy spokesman Buddhika Sampath said a joint rescue operation was launched after the vessel had issued a distress call saying it had been hit.

“We found people floating in the water and rescued them. Later on, we found upon inquiring that they belonged to the Iranian ship,” he said.

The IRIS Dena is a Moudge-class frigate serving in the Iranian Navy’s Southern Fleet.

Sampath said when the navy responded to the distress call, “a vessel could not be found, and only traces of oil spills were visible,” and the incident had occurred “beyond our waters.”

Before the attack, the Iranian warship had recently taken part in the Milan 2026 multinational naval exercise and fleet review held in the Bay of Bengal.

It was on the way home.

The attack comes as the US and Israel continue airstrikes on Iran that began Saturday, which have killed Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and 866 others, including scores of schoolgirls.

According to the Foundation of Martyrs and Veterans Affairs, an Iranian government-linked body, the death toll has climbed to 1,045.

Tehran has responded with drone and missile attacks targeting US-linked sites in Gulf countries, causing multiple fatalities. Six US service members have been killed and many others have been injured.

US lost nearly $2B worth of military equipment in first 4 days of strikes against Iran

ISTANBUL

The US has lost nearly $2 billion worth of military equipment amid its military operations against Iran since Saturday, according to estimates and data compiled by Anadolu.

The chief driver of the cost is a US AN/FPS-132 early warning radar system at Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, valued at $1.1 billion, which was hit with a missile strike by Iran on Saturday. Qatar confirmed that the radar was hit and damaged.

On Sunday, 3 F-15E Strike Eagles were lost in a friendly fire incident by Kuwaiti air defenses. While all six aircrew survived, the planes did not; the cost of replacing them is estimated at $282 million.

During its opening attack Saturday, Iran struck the US Navy’s Fifth Fleet headquarters in Manama, Bahrain, destroying two satellite communications terminals and several large buildings.

Using open-source intelligence reports, the targeted SATCOM terminals were identified as AN/GSC-52Bs, which approximately cost $20 million, factoring in deployment and installation costs.

Iran also claimed to have destroyed the AN/TPY-2 radar component of the THAAD Anti-Ballistic Missile (ABM) System deployed at Al-Ruwais Industrial City in the United Arab Emirates. Satellite imagery through open-source intelligence reports suggests that there has been a hit. The destroyed radar component is estimated to be worth $500 million.

Combining these costs, Iran has damaged $1.902 billion worth of US military assets in the region.

Iran has so far targeted at least seven US military sites across the Middle East since the United States and Israel began striking Iran on Saturday: the US Fifth Fleet’s headquarters in Bahrain, Camp Arifjan, Ali Al Salem Air Base and Camp Buehring in Kuwait, Erbil Base in Iraq, the UAE’s Jebel Ali Port, the US Navy's largest port of call in the Middle East, and Al-Udeid Air Base in Qatar.

In Kuwait, images taken Sunday afternoon revealed collapsed rooftops at multiple points within Ali Al Salem Air Base following reports of an Iranian strike the previous day. Camp Arifjan was the primary site where six US service members were killed. A widely circulated video recorded Sunday inside Camp Buehring in Kuwait showed a drone flying over the installation before exploding within its perimeter.

Footage and photographs confirmed by the New York Times suggested that Iran repeatedly targeted the military installation at Erbil International Airport in Iraq, where US forces are stationed, throughout Saturday and Sunday. Smoke and flames were visible rising from the area. By Sunday morning, satellite images showed that four structures in one section of the base had been damaged or destroyed, with fires still burning into early Monday.

Meanwhile, satellite imagery Sunday of Jebel Ali Port in Dubai showed smoke rising from a large building within a fenced US Navy recreational zone. Although not an official US base, Jebel Ali is among the navy’s most frequently used ports.

In addition to the military bases, US diplomatic missions in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and the UAE have also been a target of strikes.

The US Embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia was hit by two drones. The Saudi Defense Ministry reported "limited fire and minor material damage" to the compound. According to The Washington Post, the CIA Station inside the compound was also hit.

The US Embassy in Kuwait City, Kuwait was attacked with drone and missile strikes described as a "brutal" Iranian attack by Kuwaiti officials. Smoke was reported near the compound, with damage details remaining limited in public reporting. The embassy closed "until further notice" with non-essential staff and families being evacuated.

The US Consulate General in Dubai, UAE was hit by a suspected Iranian drone that struck a parking lot adjacent to the chancellery building. A fire started but was quickly contained by local authorities. The consulate grounds sustained some impact but no major structural destruction.

Of course. But places like India and Turkey are constructs formed of 1930s nationalism. Therefor the "leadership" does not really reveal the national will or interests of the country. Some Indians are hypnotized by the romance of Zion, or the idea of it, because it once sounded like some form of liberation or justice; many do not. Most are interested in a functional Middle East, with less U. S. dominance, and no political steering by a caste-worshipping Zionist sympathizer.

India is an SCO member and dependent on Russian energy. Westernizing it is of limited application. It's a place where Trump is burned in effigy.

The statement is significant because, BRICS is solely financial, the Iran -- Russia documents are also basically financial, while SCO includes security strategy from China to Belarus.
