In the Pentagon, they are discussing scenarios of a "final strike" against Iran - from massive bombings to a ground operation.

What exactly are they considering?

▪️The capture or blockade of Kharg Island - a key oil export hub.

▪️A landing on Larak and other islands off the Strait of Hormuz to control the strait.

▪️An attempt to take control of Abu Musa and adjacent points.

▪️The interception and blockade of tankers with Iranian oil.

▪️In a more drastic version - strikes on nuclear infrastructure or even a ground operation deep into the country.

The Americans are again stuck on the same points that were discussed earlier - islands and coastal nodes through which Iran holds Hormuz.

But capturing is not the same as controlling. Kharg, Larak or Abu Musa are points that can be occupied, but it is extremely difficult to hold them under constant pressure from the mainland. The same logic as with Bandar Abbas - without suppressing the entire IRGC system, any successes will remain temporary.

❗️That's why Washington is hesitating. Any "final operation" risks not ending the war, but on the contrary - dragging the American side into a protracted phase with the need to hold territory under constant attacks.

But there is another scenario, much simpler in terms of implementation. A short operation with a landing, a demonstrative occupation of a point and a quick retreat - with the possibility of declaring "achieved goals".

If the losses are acceptable, such an option could work as a media victory - even without a real change in the situation in the Strait of Hormuz.

And the markets aren't yet properly responding to the crisis, as they tend to be mainstream-dependent on information and are still reacting to Donald Trump's statements that 'the war is ended' — which it hasn't at all, and may not end for quite a while.

That's with the removal of American and Israeli forces from the region.

One has somewhere to go, the other does not.

It is only now that we begin to see results against air forces. I haven't seen Ben Gurion in the target list, which suggests some amount of satisfaction has occurred there. As for the many others, they are starting to deteriorate. There may be one or two Israeli spots that haven't been hit yet, but most have been visited. One would expect steady attention to these, while adding in various other reactions, like the steel thing. The numerous Hezbollah tank kills are accompanied by a small amount of reprisal to air bases. They mostly work on the invading army even at point blank range.

That was fifteen months of grace, plus, nothing being done about Gaza. As glad as one can be that the UK is not sending any toy aircraft carriers, it is highly disconcerting that blame and sanctions are not heaped on Israel. Always trying to switch it around. It's another toy that can no longer be left in the hands of apes.

Here is a bit on the time-delayed results:

American satellite firms have delayed the release of imagery by at least 14 days, making it hard to assess the damage, British daily the Telegraph reported.

Of all the bases, Ali Al Salem in Kuwait has suffered most hits – a total of 23 – according to Hinz. Camp Arifjan and Camp Buehring follow, with 17 and six geolocated strikes respectively.

Satellite imagery from these three bases, the Telegraph wrote, shows damage to hangars, communications infrastructure, satellite equipment, fuel stores, and – following a strike on Ali Al Salem on Wednesday – a large warehouse.

In Saudi Arabia, at the Prince Sultan Air Base, satellite imagery shows a hangar with a pitched roof reduced to rubble, the Telegraph reported.

In Qatar, at Al Udeid Air Base – the largest American base in the Middle East – imagery shows the destruction of multiple antennae and satellite arrays.

In the UAE, at Al Dhafra Air Base, a large hole has been ploughed through a building apparently used to house troops, with a large blast radius of dust.

Iranian sources said the attack was carried out by a Khorramshahr-4 missile, the most advanced in Iran’s arsenal.

On Monday, CENTCOM which is responsible for American forces in West Asia put out an urgent call for contractors to deliver transportable hardened bunkers to Jordan.

The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) has targeted radar and air defense facilities in an attempt to “blind” Washington.

Iran has struck four sites hosting components for the American-made THAAD system, which tracks and intercepts incoming missiles, Hinz said.

Just a rough estimate to confirm this is not insignificant.

Is it wrong that my hyper-suspicious mind reads that highlighted line and thinks, "This, too, may be nothing more than orchestrated subterfuge." Once a glow stick, always a glowstick right? I admire the integrity if he's coming from a place of honesty and truth, but something about seeing those three capital letters lined up like that always throws up the red flags.

Most of the CIA is recruited from college; they are not soldiers, and soldiers don't like them. The unusual part is the guy had experience.

I tend to think high-level resignations are what they are. There is the kind like "Epstein proximity" where it happens due to external factors, which is different. This one, like the spokesperson of the Israeli PM, seem to me, at least, to be cases of "I can't take this any more." It's like Congress complaining they are "trapped" or "boxed" by the Executive. Some complaints by government officials about how lousy and rotten our government really is, are valid, particularly this very basic kind.

IDF chief warns of ‘collapse’ as Israel delays ultra-Orthodox draft – media
Eyal Zamir reportedly told the cabinet he was “raising ten red flags” due to acute personnel shortages

The Israel Defense Forces is “on the verge of collapse” due to acute personnel shortages, Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir has warned, according to local media. Opposition parties have accused Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government of stalling on drafting ultra-Orthodox Jews.

Military service is mandatory for most Israeli citizens, both men and women. However, members of the Haredi community have historically been exempt from conscription. While the Israeli Supreme Court revoked the exemption in June 2024, Netanyahu’s cabinet has so far delayed drafting ultra-Orthodox Jews.

Parties within the ruling coalition representing the Haredi community have repeatedly threatened to withdraw support for Netanyahu should he introduce the measure.

Addressing the cabinet on Wednesday, Lieutenant General Zamir said he was “raising ten red flags for you before the IDF collapses,” as quoted by The Jerusalem Post.

In addition to its ongoing campaign against Iran, the Israeli military is continuing its years-long operation against Hamas in Gaza. The IDF also launched an incursion into southern Lebanon in early March, targeting Hezbollah militants.

The IDF chief reportedly lamented that the government was failing to address the escalating personnel shortages, relying instead on reservists, some of whom have been serving since 2023.

Several opposition parties have criticized Netanyahu over his failure to address the issue and warned of a potential security crisis. Blue and White Party leader Benny Gantz charged that the government was not providing the IDF with enough “soldiers to actually win.”

In a post on X on Thursday, Israeli opposition leader Yair Lapid, a former prime minister and foreign minister, warned that the “IDF is stretched to the limit and beyond.”

“These reservists are exhausted and worn out and can no longer respond to our security challenges,” he wrote, accusing the government of encouraging “Haredi draft evasion.”
