Initially, it was the City of London that shut... down [the Strait of Hormuz]... Lloyds pulled the insurance.

They [have] put the world into energy collapse and famine conditions by doing this.

That could be one way of putting it.

She would be referring primarily to Arabian oil, unless Lloyds' really handles "shadow fleets".

With some risk involved, Iran is receiving a premium.

Quote Despite US warships engaging in blatant maritime piracy by intercepting tankers and claiming a naval stranglehold, Iranian crude keeps moving.

Chinese buyers are paying a premium, Indian refiners are routing payments through yuan, and Tehran has turned the narrow legal geography of the Strait of Hormuz into its strongest bargaining chip.

The US Navy fired on an Iranian cargo ship in the Gulf of Oman on Sunday, blowing a hole in its engine room before Marine pirates boarded the vessel, President Donald Trump announced on Truth Social.

It was the most dramatic piracy in what has become a daily occurrence at sea, but a US blockade of Iranian ports that has failed to achieve its stated aim of cutting off Iran’s oil revenues.

Just days before the attack on the Touska, an Iranian-flagged vessel nearly as long as an aircraft carrier, another tanker owned by the National Iranian Tanker Company successfully completed a voyage to Indonesia, unloading approximately 2 million barrels of crude before returning safely to Kharg Island, Iran’s main oil export terminal.

The ship transited back through waters that the US Central Command claims are under effective blockade.

The contrast illustrates a fundamental reality of the current war. While American destroyers patrol the Gulf of Oman and have forced 27 commercial vessels to turn around since the blockade began on April 13, Iran’s oil continues to reach customers.

TankerTrackers.com, a maritime intelligence firm, reported that Iranian crude exports in April remained at elevated levels, directly contradicting claims by the US president that Iran was losing $500 million daily from a closed Strait of Hormuz.

The legal architecture of the waterway helps explain why.

The Strait of Hormuz is 21 nautical miles wide at its narrowest point. Under the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea, which Iran has signed but not ratified, coastal nations may claim territorial waters extending 12 nautical miles from their shores.

This creates a mathematical reality that neither side disputes. The strait is narrow enough that the territorial waters of Iran and Oman overlap or abut, leaving no high-seas corridor where international transit passage is unambiguously guaranteed.

The US-Israeli war of terrorism has prompted Iran to finally put aside its longstanding diplomatic hesitation and historical reluctance over its Hormuz rights, fully enforcing its sovereign authority under the 12-mile territorial waters provision of international law to administer, regulate, and control traffic through the strait.

Iran is fully within its rights, and there is no need to accommodate the colonialist powers that have exhausted every weapon in their arsenal—from crippling sanctions to economic warfare—to harm the Iranian people for years.

The time has come for Iran to strike back, to deploy its own strategic leverage, and to turn the tables on a West that has shown nothing but inhumanity.

Since late February, when US and Israeli strikes triggered the current war, Tehran has effectively closed the strait to all vessels it does not expressly approve.

In fact, Iran has allowed a carefully managed flow of its own oil exports and vessels from countries it considers non-hostile to pass through designated corridors north and south of Larak Island, where it monitors each ship.

The new status has done something remarkable to Iranian oil pricing. Chinese independent refiners, known as teapots, are now buying Iranian Light crude at premiums of $1.50 to $2 per barrel above Brent, according to trading sources cited by Reuters.

For years under sanctions, Iranian oil traded at a discount to global benchmarks, compensating buyers for the risks of dealing with a blacklisted seller. That dynamic has reversed.

At least two teapot refineries purchased cargoes at these premium prices this month, betting that Iranian supply is more reliable than alternatives from Saudi Arabia or the UAE, both of which have effectively shut in approximately 9 million barrels per day of production.

China has taken more than 90 percent of Iran’s crude exports in recent years, and Beijing’s refiners just received new import quotas totaling 55 million tons.

One US-sanctioned Aframax tanker, the Ping Shun, was reportedly carrying 600,000 barrels of Iranian crude from Kharg Island and is now signaling Dongying in China’s Shandong province, a hub for private refining.

Meanwhile, refiners in India which was once Iran’s third-largest oil customer are scrambling for crude after West Asian supplies were constrained by the strait’s closure.

A temporary US sanctions waiver, issued March 21 and allowing transactions for already-loaded cargoes until April 19, created a narrow window for purchases.

Past payment mechanisms had long complicated Iranian oil trade because the United States bans Iran's access to the dollar-based financial system. Those hurdles have now been resolved.

According to Reuters, Indian refiners are making payments for Iranian crude using the Chinese yuan, routing funds through ICICI Bank, one of India's largest private sector banks, to settle accounts with Iranian sellers.

The development carries geopolitical weight. Yuan-denominated oil trade between Iran and India reduces both countries’ reliance on the US dollar and the SWIFT financial messaging system, both of which Washington has used as weapons in its maximum pressure campaign.

For China, it reinforces the yuan’s gradual emergence as an alternative reserve currency. For India, it is a pragmatic response to a simple problem where the country needs crude oil, and Iran has it.

The Touska seizure on Sunday drew a sharp response from Tehran. Iran’s top military headquarters, Khatam al-Anbiya, vowed that the armed forces would “soon respond to and retaliate for this act of armed piracy”.

The US blockade strategy carries domestic political risks. Average US gasoline prices have exceeded the psychological threshold of $4 per gallon, with continued high energy costs set to hurt the Republican party in November’s midterm elections.

Iran, for its part, has decades of experience with sanctions. The country has built resilience through a combination of barter trade, and diplomatic hedging.

The key variable is time, with observers questioning how long can the US maintain high-intensity maritime piracy while bearing the political costs of elevated oil prices and inflation.

For now, the oil keeps moving. Chinese refiners are paying more than ever. Indian payments are flowing in yuan and every successful Iranian tanker voyage undercuts the US narrative of an airtight blockade.

Really concerning development for the energy market. Energy infrastructure across the globe is going out-of-operation for one reason or the other.

    This, to me seems coordinated.

Israel is still doing its murders in Lebanon and Gaza.

Cato Institute is seeing this as the US having been discarded:

Quote According to a study by the Cato Institute, the US war with Iran—despite demonstrating overwhelming firepower during Operation Epic Fury—resulted in significant strategic and material losses that exposed the fragility of Washington’s military posture in the region.

The Cato Institute notes that while the United States “inflicted substantial losses on Iran’s military,” it failed to secure a decisive outcome. As the study states, “the war was not won,” with Iran able “to stay in the fight, keep taking shots, and convince the US to reach for diplomacy.” This, the institute suggests, reflects a widening gap between US battlefield capabilities and its ability to achieve strategic victory.

A central focus of the Cato Institute analysis is the cost imposed on US forces through sustained Iranian retaliation. The study reports that “Iranian missiles and drones hit at least a dozen US bases,” directly targeting American military infrastructure across the region. These attacks resulted in casualties, with “six US soldiers… killed in strikes on US bases in Kuwait,” underscoring the human toll of the conflict.

The Cato Institute further highlights significant material losses. Strikes on Prince Sultan Air Base led to the destruction of “a valuable E-3 Sentry AWACS aircraft” and damage or destruction to “several tanker aircraft,” assets essential for surveillance and aerial operations. Such losses, the study implies, weaken the US military’s operational effectiveness even as it maintains overall superiority.

Operational disruption was also widespread. The Cato Institute cites the Pentagon’s decision to reduce the physical presence of personnel at forward bases due to persistent threats. Quoting external reporting, the study notes that “many of the 13 military bases in the region used by American troops are all but uninhabitable,” illustrating the extent to which US facilities were rendered ineffective under sustained attack.

At the core of the Cato Institute assessment is a structural critique of US military strategy. With approximately 40,000 troops deployed across large installations in the Gulf, these bases became, in the study’s words, “tantalizing targets” rather than secure centers of power projection.

The institute ultimately raises broader strategic concerns, asking “how much deterrence and operational value does the US derive from military infrastructure that can be targeted” so effectively. The implication, according to the Cato Institute, is that the United States’ forward deployment model is increasingly vulnerable in the face of missile and drone warfare.

In sum, the Cato Institute concludes that even against a “severely degraded” adversary, the United States incurred notable human, material, and strategic losses—calling into question the resilience and effectiveness of its current military posture in the region.

Modest downturn for Big Air as a consequence:

Quote Germany’s Lufthansa, Europe’s largest airline group, has announced that it will cancel 20,000 uneconomic short-haul flights from its European summer schedule, as jet fuel prices have surged since the start of the US-Israeli aggression against Iran.

In a statement late Tuesday, Lufthansa said the cuts will amount to one percent of available seat-kilometres and save around 40,000 tons of jet fuel.

The first 120 cancellations were implemented on Tuesday, effective until the end of May. By late April or early May, broader reductions through to the end of the summer scheduling season will be unveiled.

Since the start of the aggression, Lufthansa has taken some of the most drastic steps among global airlines, as serious strikes by pilots and cabin crew also hit it.

Last week, the airline announced the shutdown of its Cityline regional unit and the grounding of 27 older, fuel-guzzling aircraft.

European Union Energy Commissioner Dan Jorgensen said on Tuesday that the coming summer will be difficult for Europe due to fuel shortages caused by the aggression against Iran and the ensuing closure of the Strait of Hormuz.

He added that the EU is preparing measures to curb the impact the war is having on jet fuel supply.

“If needed, we may redistribute and share jet fuel resources we have,” Jorgensen told reporters in Madrid, as nearly 75 percent of Europe’s jet fuel supply comes from West Asia.

    Dear Friend,

Every year on May 15, Palestinians around the world, numbering about 12.4 million, remember the Nakba or "catastrophe," referring to the ethnic cleansing of Palestine at the hands of Zionist militias in 1948 - in which more than 500 Palestinian villages and towns were liquidated, with one million Palestinians forcibly displaced from their homes - to make way for the foundation of a new Jewish state.

The Palestinian experience of dispossession and loss of a homeland turns 78 years old this year - but the ongoing genocide in Gaza and settler violence in the West Bank serve as a potent reminder that the Nakba didn't start and end in 1948. The Greater Israel Project is a 24/7/365 operation.

Egyptian witness to the collapse of the house of cards:

Quote The US-Israeli military aggression against the Islamic Republic of Iran has put pressure on Arab states of the Persian Gulf that host US military bases, who find themselves in the most vulnerable and precarious position, says a former Egyptian diplomat.

In an interview with Press TV website, Abdallah Alashal, a former Egyptian deputy minister for foreign affairs, said the Persian Gulf countries are the real losers in the US-Israeli war against Iran.

He said while Washington and Tel Aviv have wrongly framed their actions as necessary for regional security, the Persian Gulf Arab nations are paying the heaviest price – caught between their alliance with the United States and the consequences of a wider war with Iran.

"The Arab states hosting American bases are the clear losers in the current US-Israeli aggression against Iran," the former Egyptian diplomat said, adding that the regional countries must recognize that foreign bases fundamentally undermine their own national security.

He emphasized that these Arab countries find themselves in a difficult position as they can neither guarantee their own safety nor dare to strike Iran.

He said their territory has become a potential battleground, yet they lack both the military capability and political will to control events, referring to the Arab states that allowed the US-Israeli coalition to launch attacks against the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The United States, Alashal noted, despite its advanced military technology, has proven unable to fully protect its own bases in the region – let alone ensure the security of its Persian Gulf hosts, which leaves them exposed and powerless.

On what many international relations scholars say is Iran emerging as a fourth global superpower after delivering painful blows to both the US and Israel during the 40-day war, he said the results would be drastic and limitless in that case.

"In this scenario, the Israeli regime could be dismantled – much like the Soviet Union – and removed from the map, with the entire region liberated by Iran. Iran would first become a superpower relative to the Arab states, shifting the balance of power dramatically," he said.

He noted that Iran is defending Islam against "arrogant powers" – the US and Israel.

"Israel is described as a political regime built on lies that have now been exposed to the world. Following Iran's victory, international relations across the region would fundamentally change, and Arab rulers would lose their political function entirely," he stated.

"Conversely, if the US and Israel defeat Iran, the outcome would be catastrophic for Arab states—perhaps even more so than for Iran itself. Arab nations would find themselves with even less sovereignty than they have today. American influence would become the main source of Arab subjugation. The region would then face the emergence of a 'Greater Israel.'"

However, if Iran wins the war, the United States will lose Israel as its primary tool for aggression and for controlling subservient Arab rulers, he noted.

"In that case, the entire strategic framework of West Asia would be rewritten. Moreover, the West would eventually realize that true security lies with Iran – not with its traditional allies. The Arabs, in turn, would establish good relations with a victorious Iran, abandoning their former patrons," the former Egyptian diplomat told Press TV website.

We don't hear any more Bahraini whelping and some of those other discredited points complained at the UN. We do expect weekly War Powers Resolutions and similar measures in the US until this is resolved.

    It's blowing in the wind:

Quote The Democratic Party is undergoing a rapid and profound shift away from its traditionally strong support for Israel, with growing internal divisions and an increasing number of lawmakers adopting more critical positions, according to a Wall Street Journal opinion column.

    Senate Vote Signals Turning Point

In an article titled “Democrats Unite Against Israel,” columnist Matthew Continetti pointed to a recent US Senate vote on a resolution introduced by progressive senator Bernie Sanders seeking to block the sale of military equipment to the Israeli occupation entity.

Continetti highlighted a sharp rise in support for restricting military aid to Israel within the Democratic Party: from 19 senators in 2024 to 24 in 2025 and reaching 40 out of 47 in 2026—an indication of a significant internal shift.

He argued that Israel has become a “loyalty test” within the party, where support is no longer politically advantageous but increasingly a liability—particularly for politicians pursuing higher office.

According to the column, Democratic candidates are now competing to demonstrate tougher stances on Israel to appeal to the party’s base, especially younger voters and progressives.

Polling data reinforces this trend, showing that a substantial share of Americans—particularly Democrats—hold unfavorable views of Israel, with a clear partisan divide between Republicans and Democrats. Sympathy for Palestinians is also rising among younger generations.

    Growing Criticism Among Party Elites

The shift extends to the party’s political leadership, with several figures adopting more critical positions on Israel, including calls to halt arms sales or reject support from pro-Israel lobbying groups. Continetti described this as evidence of a deeper ideological transformation within the party.

At the same time, some Democrats continue to voice strong support for the Israeli occupation entity, including Senator John Fetterman, who said he is prepared to be “the last Democrat standing with Israel,” underscoring the party’s internal divide.

Continetti concluded that the debate over “Israel” reflects a broader discussion about US identity and its global role, warning that declining support for “Israel” could carry far-reaching political, strategic, and moral implications.

    Israeli Concerns Over Waning Support

In a related context, Zionist journalist Tzipi Shmilovitz, writing last week in Yedioth Ahronoth, warned that Israel’s standing in the West is deteriorating not only in Europe but also in the United States—long considered its most critical ally.

In her article, “Israel’s Position in the United States Is Worse Than You Think,” Shmilovitz argued that this decline is not sudden but rather “the culmination of a process spanning nearly 20 years without any attempt to stop it.”

Citing a Pew Research Center survey, she noted that 60% of Americans now hold unfavorable views of Israel—including 41% of Republicans—calling the findings “catastrophic by any standard.”

More concerning, she wrote, is the shift among younger Republicans, with 57% of those aged 18 to 49 expressing negative views—suggesting that the erosion of support is no longer confined to liberal or Democratic circles.

Can you imagine that Zionists believe they have not spent twenty years shaping American opinion?

That their actions would not be seen as more important than glitz?

    And they're concerned about it?

    What a self-destructive, impossible farce.

About like Gulf states "diversifying the economy" by adding tourism.

I suppose there is no more "Middle East", a western-backed ring of pseudo-countries, but, "West Asia", just itself trying to figure out where its interests truly lie. And that would probably be closer to the Chinese terms.

Trade routes are very important in geopolitics especially the INSTC because it goes from Western China through Iran. The judge asks Pepe if Russia, China and India would let Iran fall to the US and Israel. Pepe explains why that cannot happen. The war of connectivity corridors. Also important the corridor from Moscow to Mumbai.
And maybe they found Sodium perchlorate on the ship Touska that taken by US which is used in building missiles.

🇺🇸🇮🇷 According to our sources, the Chinese container ship TOUSKA, was carrying Sodium Perchlorate. Sodium Perchlorate is the primary precursor for making Ammonium Perchlorate, which is the oxidizer that makes up 70% of the fuel in solid-fueled ballistic missiles (like the Kheibar-Shekan or Haj-Qasem missiles)

4 Chinese vessels were previously reported to have already delivered these chemicals to Iran and the fifth was on its way (supposedly the TOUSKA). Multiple reports suggest they were carrying enough of this chemical to manufacture between 785-800 medium range ballistic missiles.

This is the Italian UNIFIL troops with the cross that Israel vandalised. Remember Israel claimed it was them who fixed it. They disrespected Christians twice: first by destroying the cross, then by lying about fixing it.
