Who else is guilty of "stirring up trouble" just for fun when they were young

Hi All, something miraculous has happened, I'm finally able to express myself "properly" and I am using my laptop equipped with a separate keyboard, screen and mouse (it's wonderful)

Does anybody else remember being young and "stirring up trouble" just for fun?

I used to sit around and think "how can I cause trouble today?". I guess I was one of those evil little kids that y'all talk about sometimes..

I vandalized things, did graffiti (never got caught), shoplifted (got caught), got other people in trouble for things they didn't do (my poor little brother), tried to set people up who really weren't suited for one another. That's all I can think of right now.

So fess up lol how many other people are guilty? It would really make me feel a lot better knowing I am not the only one here who did this. I grew out of it - I think my conscience found me a bit later in life at around 14, which is around the time I started breaking into people's computers.

Oh yes.

It was one of those things I picked up from other kids.

In that sense, it made me learn more carefully what I really wanted to do; made me selective about the inputs of others.

At the same time, it makes me oblivious to rules; you can't just rule me by saying what's so.

When I was a little older, I lived near a funeral home that outside it had a half-size, three feet tall statue of Saint Francis. I had a friend who was a bit bulimic and said he could puke at will. So we got something to eat, and then this thing is maybe thirty seconds out the door, and he said "Watch I'm gonna puke on St, Francis."

And so I watched this and it was very impressive, and I thought, in my prankish bag of tricks, I don't have anything like this. I'm finished. Done. I have been ousted from the ranks of mischief making.

The nature of whatever I may be guilty of changed; it no longer had victims.

I was the instigator.. some of my friends parents called me a bad influence and there were friends which I wasn't allowed to visit their house!

This is what I was hoping for, a story!

I remember being on a bus all alone listening to music in the very back with my headphones on and the bus driver told me to turn it down. I wished I could just puke on the bus right then. I've never really wished I could puke before, but I was just really irritated with that bus driver.. who was also irritated with me.

Well, that puking incident was a latter-day reminder.

Earlier it was the stupidest thing that I would say put an end to most of the dirty stuff I used to do. Especially because I can get away with practically everything.

Well, if you understand old technology, one of the things kids could get away with was prank phone calls. You'd dial a random number, or, we'd look in the phone book for ridiculous names and call them.

One night I had a group at my house and that is what we were doing. And most of it was dumb, cornball, perhaps irritating, but at least with some entertaining or comedic value to us.

After a while I heard:


"I'm gonna tie you up and beat you."

That was the operator.

This kid literally called the telephone operator and made a threat.

I didn't think they would think it was funny, and, thanks, because the operator knows where the call is coming from.

I kicked everyone out and we hid in the woods until we saw a deputy cruise up in a matter of minutes.

That kid got mad at me because I passed the stick; I wasn't willing to take the blame for something I didn't do, and, honestly, did not agree with. So I turned him in to keep myself out of trouble.

That one sentence mostly broke up the hooliganism.

Give someone a minor amount of trust, and they do something stupid. Lesson learned.

I remember realizing my padlock key would open other padlocks than my own! I stole someone's MAIL (gasp). I wasn't even really old enough to realize what crime even was..

Ha! Well I was 18 when I broke into my boyfriend's computer at his work. I told his roommate and he said "that's illegal, you know". NO I did NOT know! The internet used to be really stupid and no one had a firewall. I learned my lesson then, and it wasn't really about crime, it was more about invading others privacy. Just because "god already knows" doesn't mean it's any of MY business. My line of thinking was more like "what would God do?".. and the answer was "probably look at stuff". But I'm not God and I shouldn't have been acting like I was.

Around here, it was mailbox baseball. You'd see damaged mailboxes because people would drive by in a car and swing a baseball bat out the window. I've never done it.

I have glued random numbers on them.

Probably, statistically, we used more eggs than anything. Of course, if you were growing tomatoes, we'd pick those and use them too. Nicely splatted mess for no particular reason.

• We put M80 in mailboxes to blow them up
• We drove our cars on well-manicured grass in the wealthy neigbhborhoods
