If chess is a sport, so is
speedcubing.
Speedcubers are participants in speed contests to see who is fastest to solve a randomly scrambled Rubik's Cube. It's a BIG thing, with a huge social media following, especially in China, India, and the Philippines.
There's even the WCA, the World Cube Association, the governing body which organizes the championships and validates the world record attempts.
I think it really is a sport, as what's required to be a champion is a combo of (a) lightning-fast thought and (b) lightning-fast fingers. The kids who excel in this are coached by their parents (because there's huge prize money, as well as the chance to be a celebrity), and their skill is something to be amazed at.
Here's the running list over the years of the various record times for solving a standard 3x3 Rubik's Cube.

- 2018: 3.47, Yusheng Du (China)
- 2023: 3.13, Max Park (USA)
- 2025: 3.08, Yiheng Wang (China)

So that's a fraction over 3 seconds for a tiny kid to solve a scrambled Rubik's Cube.
Many experts doubted the 3-second barrier could ever be broken, as this was surely just too fast for the human brain and human fingers. Like the 4-minute mile, the 2-hour marathon, or the 9.75-second 100 meters, it seemed impossible tor humans to go faster still.

The last 5 minutes of the video is a technical twist-by-twist analysis of the record solution — which I didn't even try to understand. Up to that point, the video is a whole bunch of highly exciting fun.
