Lovely Samara, and it's a reminder for me to focus on the cycle of transformation, growth and re-birth
rather than get stuck in grieving.

I will sent up the bones of my garden before my furniture or any other possessions arrive.
There is not that much space, but just enough to weave some magic.
Even though I moved from a funky apartment to a lovely house in Paradise, I grieved. I was surprised how much I grieved. I LOVED that place... and I still miss my little songbirds. David went by the other day, and the birds in the backyard gathered and shrieked at him. He was sooooo sorry he had no food for them, and the feeders and suet cages we left for the next tenants, were empty.

While I love our new house in Paradise, it doesn't feel like "home" yet. Takes time to put down roots.

I was actually quite amazed by the variety of bird life here in Paradise. It feels like we're living in a big symphonic aviary. We've created a sanctuary of sorts, and do a lot of feeding. Since we have canaries and parakeets inside, they spill a lot of their seed, which we sweep up and deposit outside, and get a flock of winged friends visiting in return, to the point now that we can walk around near them and they mostly just ignore us, as part of the background environment.

    Welcome to town!

There's a fun sign if you come up the mountain via Clark Rd, saying, "You are now ascending into Paradise!"

To get to the Orosi Valley you pass through a town called Paraiso, which means Paradise in Spanish.
I swear Paraiso has to be one of the ugliest, junkiest towns in all of Costa Rica and I don't blame anyone for turning back at that point. Yet a half mile past Paraiso there is a drastic change of scenery.
Flowering bushes on both sides of the road give an indication that a real paradise is about to be entered.
Nothing here is quite as it appears to be.

    Hiya Ulli!

A little over a decade ago, I was seriously contemplating moving to Costa Rica, but as causes and conditions ripened, we ended up instead living in a remote area in the Northern Cascade Mountain Range, right in the middle of an old growth Redwood forest, where we bought 5 acres and built a neat cabin. However, as it turned out, Mazie needed to be closer to a hospital, due to her medical condition, and we were over an hour from the nearest facility, which was too long a drive, given her requirements. We almost lost her several times on the drive to the ER. We loved our time there, but when we realized we needed to move, we opened our attention to the inner travel guide, and were directed to Paradise. A very unusual set of events followed -- miraculous in many respects -- and we ended up with our current camping spot, nicely situated in a forest-type setting, but only about a mile from a very fine medical facility, which Mazie has been making regular use of, especially lately.

To add a tropical island flair, she cultivates a large variety of orchids:

I had a great day at the Garden. The babies are in their new home and loving it. Many women at the Centre came out all happy that they now have a Garden to admire.

When I got home, I got a call from my daughter. They bought a new house recently, sold theirs. Done deal. They took possession of the new house last Friday, a month delay from moving in, to have some renovations done. Here's where it goes bad, the contractor stopped the work yesterday because of major hidden defects in the house. The whole frame of the house would need to be redone... it's that bad. They will not be able to move in by the end of June when they have to hand in the keys of their current house. They need to undertake legal procedures to be compensated otherwise they just can't have the work done. Please help.

    Thank you.

Ok this is nerve wrecking .

Got approved for one place, that I'm yet to sign on,
then found a second place overnight that is better and loads cheaper.

So I'm waiting on the ok for my dogs..
in the meanwhile i have the first agent calling me to sign.

Second house has the best trees, and a huge backyard,
its smaller but its much more homey and near parks.
And the best thing is i will not need a housemate to cover the rent.

But i also can't risk ending up with nothing.
So far the owners are concerned about the floors and scratches,
which is fair enough, but they have been living on softwood floors for years
with no damage.. their claws get trimmed all the time..

So yeah.. i have put a good case forward, including extra bond to cover anything they may be worried about..

But at the same time i have to get an answer in the next few hours, otherwise the first place may be gone.

I understand. When we were selling our land prior to moving to Paradise, we had a complicated contract, involving purchasing the Paradise property contingent on the sale of the Cascade property. At the last minute, we were informed that the buyer's bank had denied their mortgage application. This would have meant that we would have lost a large deposit on the Paradise property, and moreover, stood a chance of now losing the Cascade property too, due to financial malfeasance on the part of some family members we had partnered with. After a lot of handwringing, Mazie and I inquired into our true condition, and realized that we were already happy, regardless of whatever happened. We recognized simultaneously that these tests which we were being given were like "sting operations", and we were not going to fall for that. No sooner had we arrived at such acceptance, then we got a call telling us that the bank for the buyers had reconsidered, and that they would now finance the purchase. Funny old universe, eh . . .

ok.... well the second place, I am now in the running for,
and frankly i think i have dodge a major bullet.

First place, more rooms, more debt, and there is no way they will have it
ready in 3 week.. no way. Way too much work to do, paint , sand floors, and do bathrooms,
i just don't buy it. Naive, first time renovators me thinks...

So new place, smaller, cheaper.. but more garden. ( yays)
and which means i have to get rid of more stuff ( yays)

looking good... i will know for sure Monday afternoon.

    Good Morning My Friends,

I feel better today. I am sooooo grateful! Making the drive to the hood this morning, dropping M. Little One called last night, hunch is that he was worried about me. It amazes me, and confounds me, that he is plugged in to me somehow. He wanted me to come to his house last night. Teehee. I explained that I was sick, and oddly he sounded stuffy as well. He told me about this really cool Mommy Treat. You can only have one because two of them will make your tummy hurt. It's for your throat. He is going to bring me one tomorrow. It's called a cough drop. I have to chuckle, he has an amazing heart. He is so excited for his birthday party next weekend, handed out all his invitations. His mommy is getting him a BIG surprise, and he can't bring it to my house to show me (it is a big boy bed and he will be thrilled!)

    Thank goodness for little joys.

    Much Love,

Strong animal medicine on the mountain these weeks and days past. There is a pack of these creatures frequenting the upper fields...the cattle unhesitatingly chase them. Last night at dusk, after spotting a healthy pair trotting down my way...I crawled out on to the roof and began wildly howling. It felt wonderful. An atavistic, somewhat comical release. Most of my 'neighbors' would shoot upon sight of these beings (and they do). I believe there is another way. However, may they stay far away from the feline of this sanctuary. It is a dance, living close to the Mother. Gratitude for the lessons and reminders.

Blessings to the village, to all those in transition during this Venus retrograde. May the setbacks be navigated skillfully and playfully.

"Most of us think of coyote as trickster, and it's true that he is. However, coyote represents the 2 sides of every issue, every situation (including ourselves), and urges us to examine all the facts before we take a position or offer an opinion. Coyote is duality in motion; wisdom and folly; humor and seriousness; work and play; simplicity and complications ~ the wise fool. He is living paradox at the heart of all things. He arrives to teach us the value of living and walking in balance."

    Good afternoon all

It's an overcast day here in Yorkshire, very still too - pensive atmosphere. Even the birds are quieter. All very calm though. I'm enjoying some peace and alone time with my dog who is awake and alternating between watching out the window and grooming herself. I'm considering revolunteering for a conservational charity that works near me, they do outreach work with primary schools as well as working on the land itself.

I volunteered with them up until a few years ago when i had to stop due to caring for a family member. I loved doing it - i've done a lot of outreach and community work before, on various subjects but working with the children on wildlife gardens and veg patches was a wonderful experience. I've mentioned before that i live in a 'socially deprived' area - some of the children were simply amazed that carrots came out of the ground, also the composting process - that everything is here in nature and it all works without added nasties. It was so wonderful and a true privilege to see that spark in their eyes!! My thinking is that for a couple of hours a week of my spare time, the opportunity to literally plant seeds with these kids is too great to pass up

Astrid - i'm sure everything will work out for you, this last property does sound good! Your posts have been great reading on the subject of listening to yourself, i hope that's not too forward of me to say... I for one have got a lot out of them.

Samsara - i sincerely wish for all the issues to be resolved! I'm thinking of you and yours.

Waveydome - that picture rocks! Thank you

Much love to everyone else here - Bek xx
