I once knew a woman who lived in LA and would fly to Las Vegas to make money gambling, '
and for seven years she managed to win enough income to afford a high lifestyle.
She had not exactly studied alchemy, but intuited all the underlying principles, enough to never lose at the gambling table.
Im sure she was hated in the casinos.

Later she became a Bahai, and as such gave up gambling, as it is considered un-earnt income...
So then she became the manager of the band Seals and Crofts...
and with them made even more money than at the casinos.

A friend's mother is banned from Vegas, as she can't loose. She intuitively wins, all the time, it never fails. Natural psychic and natural card counter - Not a 'conscious act' on her part, at all. She simply wins.

I would like to be like the mother of you friend, or like the woman who lived in LA, it would come handy these days.

I had a week end with a beautiful group, took nature's pictures, and had a good time. I gave the forum name to a group of people, we will see what this gives.

Flash, my money worries began to fade the day I stopped worrying. I did not win the jackpot or anything, I just stopped worrying. Not easy I know, but then, it can't be that difficult if I can do it.

I agree with you, as long as I can put food on the table. I do have a teenager to raise. The other side of the story is that I am over fifty, and that women over fifty in Québec, and in France, have a very hard time to get work. I have been working free lance, on a daily basis, not knowing what will be tomorrow, for years, in a job I cannot do anymore because it is physically too difficult. I need to change type of work but I am definitely not at the right age. I have been sending cv all over, and do not even have a phone call. I must say that my resume is above most people, yet nothing. I have been told that nobody hires women at that age group (men yes, not women). I have been insecure all those years and still am.

Over and above, I have to take care of my health (which I will keep quiet on if I ever have job interviews). I have seen too many very poor old people not to understand what may await me. Well, I presently do not have much choice.

Worrying creates a barrier, which is like a dust cloud that travels in front of one' journey.
In the end one doesn't know where one wanted to go in the first place.

...I think many on the forum have been upping their game in recent months. I remember I started posting on a regular basis on this thread at a time when I felt the rest of the forum was a somewhat inhospitable place. That this has changed so much is in my view due in no small part to what dear ulli has achieved on this thread, which from being a safe haven has extended its influence to make the forum altogether a pleasanter place. If she is not blushing, she hasn’t been thanked enough for that.

Hang in there Flash. I know things will work out for you. I have a 16 foot RV that I gave away to a friend back in 2007 (it’s a 70’s something) and my husband, 2 cats, 3 goats (they actually had a movable barn) and I all ended up living in it for 2 months this summer with no idea what we were going to do. It was a bit scary (my husband just turned 68!) and I know about the job over 50 thing for women. I don’t have a lot of advice to give because what worked for us may not be the same for someone else. But, I will say 2 things. One thing that has worked for me is just to keep taking action to draw a particular thing into my life. It may not be THE action I need to make it work, but it energetically draws to me a solution that is what I need, even if I didn’t recognize it at the time. The day our life changed for the better was the result of just following a hunch. So, don’t discount your little intuitive nudges from the subconscious.

The other thing is I had to shift my energy this last summer because I feel that to some extent I was pushing the solution away because, well, quite frankly, because of my fear (winter here in a 16 foot RV is not a good option). It grew to rather large proportions for a short while and I had to take it down. A lot of little moments by myself, asking the Universe, listening, and allowing myself to release what was not serving me. Easier said than done I know, but as I moved through it I could feel myself regaining momentum and energy. Anyway, just a little snippet from someone who can relate.

Fortunately my daughter is now doing well on her own (finally!) so at least she wasn't with us for this experience or I really would have been shaking in my shoes.

Ha! I just checked the articles. This was the part that I spotted first off. We've talked about crossword puzzle before. (see post below with the same Guardian links you provided in the past)

For someone that sleeps with a dictionary under her pillow in hopes that spelling will come easy, crossword puzzles all look the same to me. I tried them, but I spent more time in the back pages where the answers kept calling me.

I swear some (all right MANY) of the words they made up just to fit in those teeny-tiny squares.

Since you ask, I’ll let you into a little secret (don’t tell anyone ) In the last millennium I used to do the Guardian cryptic crossword now and again. One of the compilers was called Araucaria. When I joined the forum, I thought he’d have been feeding the daisies for quite some time, but shortly afterwards I synchronistically discovered he had just turned 90 and was still going strong!

No, he's not a personal friend at all. I only knew him from his crosswords when I chose his nom de plume for my nom de plume. Seems to have been a pretty decent bloke, though.
