Harley, I absolutely agree with you that we mustn't stick our heads in the sand, and I don't understand how the article I posted suggests that. It is simply another point of view. Ski has just stated, there could even be another huge quake and if that were to happen, god only knows what the consequences might be.Posted by Harley Hawkins (here)
Aikya,
I'm only quoting what I get across from CNN Text Breaking News.
From what they say it is official from the Japanese Gov.
If they finally want to report the truth I am educated enough to realize that.
There are two questions I'd like to ask you:
1. Was (is) your man there now?
2. When we talk about meltdown in a nuclear situation, do you really not know what we mean?
I want you to know that I truly don't want to sound condescending to you, but I feel that it really is DIRELY IMPORTANT that we don't allow ourselves to stick our heads in the sand. AND ESPECIALLY DURING THESE TIMES.
Like I said, BE PREPARED. I can guarantee you . . . You WILL Thank yourself!
Harley
I'm in UK. I was here when the Chenobyl disaster happened and we were all at risk from the radioactive fallout....so I absolutely don't take this lightly.
If you look at the times, our posts were 2 mins apart so when I made my post I hadn't yet seen yours.
The news we are getting is confused.....for example, I've just been to the CNN website and this is what they are saying on their newspage:
So basically, we are getting confused information.![]()
Later Sunday, a spokesman for Japan's prime minister said he would not describe what was occurring in the reactors as a "meltdown."
"The situation is under control. ....We have been succeeding in lowering pressure inside the containment vessel," spokesman Noriyuki Shikata said.
Still, the government evacuated more than 200,000 residents from homes close to the plant, and tested 160 people for radiation exposure on Sunday, authorities said.
All I was doing was presenting some information which I also believed was relevant....basically to make the point that even if there is a core meltdown, it may not neessarily turn into a massive radioactive disaster.
I'm sorry if you interpreted this as me suggesting people should put their head in the sand..Ithat wasn't what I intended, nor would I.
